The Big Walk microphone puzzle uses the headphones as a live feed from a microphone elsewhere on the island. Match the music heard in the chair to one of the music areas, send a teammate there, then hold the balcony button while that teammate collects the opened reward.
Find and identify the headphone feed
The sound chair and button are on the green balcony near the Blue Tower. Sit in the chair and listen for the background music. The sound is not a code to reproduce; reports from multiple completed groups confirm that it comes from an in-world microphone placed in one of the music areas.
Use the portable radio only as a comparison tool. The radio-station route has seven channels, and each channel corresponds to a music area that can help the group identify the soundtrack heard through the chair.
Confirm the correct music area
Send one player to the music area that matches the headphone track while another stays seated. The remote player should speak or make a distinctive sound near the area's microphone. If the seated player hears them through the chair, the group has confirmed the correct endpoint.
This live test is more reliable than guessing from the song alone. It also distinguishes the puzzle from a real computer microphone problem: the chair is listening to an object in the game world, not waiting for the seated player's hardware input.
Open and collect the reward
Leave one player at the remote reward container and return another player to the button by the headphone chair. Maintain contact with an unlocked radio channel or the built-in text system. Hold the balcony button and have the remote player collect the reward while its container is open.
The official FAQ confirms that text chat follows the same distance and obstruction rules as voice chat and also works with walkie-talkies. A group that is not using microphones can therefore coordinate the two endpoints without bypassing the intended communication system.
