Solve Together, Not Over Each Other

The best Big Walk strategy is a communication system your friends can actually follow. Use the group rules first, then open the spoiler-layered solutions only when observation and a fresh attempt stop producing new information.

Best overall strategy

One Caller, Short Reports, Clear Regroup Points

Give one player control of the countdown or final instruction, but let every scout report observations. A useful report contains a landmark, one direction and one distinctive property. When someone loses contact, they return to the last named landmark instead of wandering toward a voice they can barely hear.

Core rules

Five Rules for Every Puzzle

Observe before moving

Read signs, count sockets and note colors before the group carries objects away.

Assign one experiment

Change one variable at a time so the group knows which action caused the response.

Repeat the result

The acting player reports what changed; the caller repeats it so distant teammates know it was heard.

Park spare tools

Leave maps, radios and puzzle pieces at a named safe location instead of scattering them.

Reset deliberately

When an attempt fails, regroup and restate the plan instead of immediately trying five alternatives.

Number puzzle

Big Walk 4166 and 1899 Puzzle

The two four-digit signs are coordinates. Use the hints in order and stop as soon as your group understands the next move.

Hint 1 — what kind of clue is it?

Split each four-digit number into two pairs: 41 / 66 and 18 / 99. The values describe a position, not a combination to enter into a keypad.

Hint 2 — what tool helps?

Unlock the map room by placing five puzzle rewards on the red tower roof. The room near the starting hub contains a large floor map plus a portable map and compass. A GPS device near the green tower can provide even more precise feedback.

Full solution

On the map, follow longitude 41 and latitude 18 to the grid square east and south of the starting hub. The 66 means roughly two-thirds of the way down that square; 99 places the target almost at the far eastern gridline. Search behind the rocks for a camouflaged button. One player holds that button while another remains at the original glass container and collects the reward when it opens.

  1. 01

    Unlock and collect the map

Complete five suitable puzzles and place their rewards on the red tower roof to open the nearby map room.

  2. 02

Split the signs into coordinate pairs

    Read 4166 as 41 and 66, and 1899 as 18 and 99.

  3. 03

Move to the 41/18 grid area

Travel east and south from the starter hub, using the map or a GPS-equipped walker.

  4. 04

    Search the southeast edge precisely

Move about two-thirds down the square and almost to its eastern boundary; inspect the backs of rocks.

  5. 05

    Coordinate both endpoints

Keep one player on the hidden button and another at the frosted reward container. Use radios because the two positions are separated.

Group roles

Scale the Plan to Your Party

Recommended roles by group size
PlayersCore rolesCommunication plan
2Caller + scoutStay on one radio channel and swap roles when the caller must hold a mechanism
3Caller + scout + relayRelay stays between separated endpoints and carries spare tools
4–6Two teams with one caller eachTeams report to one shared regroup landmark
7–12Coordinator + small squadsOnly squad callers report final instructions; everyone else reports locally

Listening puzzle

Big Walk Microphone Puzzle

The green balcony near the blue tower has a listening chair or headphones and a button. The sound is not a random code: it is a live microphone placed somewhere else in the world.

Big Walk players using tools together
The listening player should stay at the chair while scouts test likely music areas.
  1. 01

Sit and identify the background sound

Listen for the music, ambience and any nearby mechanical noise. Those clues point to one of the island's music areas.

  2. 02

    Send scouts to matching locations

Do not move the listener. Send one or more friends to the area that uses the same song or sound bed.

  3. 03

Test whether the feed is live

Ask a scout to speak or make a recognizable noise near the suspected microphone. The seated listener should hear that player through the headphones.

  4. 04

    Confirm the exact microphone

If several music areas sound similar, move the scout in a small circle and have them repeat a short phrase until the signal is unmistakable.

  5. 05

    Split between button and reward

Once the remote endpoint is confirmed, one player holds the green-balcony button while the remote player collects the opened reward.

If your real microphone is not working

This puzzle listens to an in-world microphone, but normal group coordination still depends on chat. Update to the latest patch, verify the selected input device, disable unused virtual inputs if detection is confused, or use the official in-game text chat.
