Big Walk Towers Guide: Unlocks and Best Order

This Big Walk towers guide explains the Red, Blue, Green and Yellow tower rewards, how puzzle items work, and which island unlock to prioritize first.

The Big Walk towers are the island's main progression system. Solve challenges, carry their red rewards to a tower console, and fill the required slots to receive a key that opens a major navigation or travel feature.

What each tower unlocks

Confirmed Big Walk tower rewards
TowerMajor unlockWhy it matters
Red TowerMap RoomProvides the floor map, portable map, compass and laser pointers
Blue TowerTrain networkConnects distant stations for long island transfers
Green TowerChairliftCreates faster access to elevated routes
Yellow TowerTunnel networkOpens mountain shortcuts and later purple-side access

The beach or opening progression comes before these four main choices. Once your group has crossed out of the starting side of the island, the major colored towers do not require a single fixed order. Their value comes from the travel feature each one opens.

Complete Red Tower first for navigation

Red Tower is the strongest default first choice because it opens the Map Room next to the starting hub. The large floor map helps the whole group understand the island, while the portable map and compass make later route calls much easier. Published walkthroughs use those tools to solve the 4166 and 1899 coordinate puzzle.

Red progression requires five puzzle rewards. A nearby challenge is convenient, but community completion testing reports that tower rewards are not permanently assigned to one specific tower. That means you can use the challenges your group understands rather than forcing a particular local puzzle.

Choose Blue, Green or Yellow by travel need

Choose Blue when repeated long walks between known stations are slowing the group down. Completing it activates the trains, turning separated stops into a useful travel network. The trains are especially helpful when players need to move tools or regroup after splitting up.

Choose Green when elevation is the greater problem. Its chairlift reduces repeated climbs, and the GPS device outside Green Tower is valuable for coordinate searches even before every other objective is complete. Choose Yellow when blocked mountain paths and tunnels are preventing further exploration; its reward opens that network and leads toward later challenges.

Do puzzle rewards belong to a specific tower?

After the beach sequence, most red puzzle rewards can be placed into whichever unfinished main tower your group chooses. Completing a challenge near Green Tower does not automatically make its reward “green.” This flexibility is why two groups can finish the same towers in different orders.

Do not worry that using a later purple reward in a normal tower will permanently block completion. Community reports indicate that red and purple pieces can overlap in tower use and that additional rewards remain available for the later completion route. Keep a simple list of finished challenges so missing progress is easier to diagnose.

Recommended order for a first playthrough

  1. 01

    Open the beach route

Finish the required opening challenges so the main island becomes reachable.

  2. 02

    Complete Red Tower

Unlock the Map Room before committing to long cross-island searches.

  3. 03

    Choose Blue or Green

Take trains for distance or the chairlift for elevation, based on your group's current routes.

  4. 04

    Complete Yellow Tower

Open the tunnels before searching the later purple-side area.

This is a practical order, not a mandatory sequence. If your group discovers and enjoys a different tower first, Big Walk allows that detour.
